BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY
THE STORY BEHIND THIS CROSS
Released in 1975 on Queen's A Night at the Opera, “Bohemian Rhapsody” is one of the most celebrated progressive rock epics in history. Written by Freddie Mercury, the original masterpiece is famous for its theatrical structure, multi-tracked vocal harmonies, hard-rocking guitar riffs, and dramatic operatic interludes.
This cross completely reimagines the British epic as a French funk groove powered by a female lead. The dramatic piano chords and heavy rock solos give way to slap bass, rhythmic rhythm guitars, and infectious, danceable grooves. Sung entirely in French, the vocal performance trades dramatic rock operatics for a slick, soulful, and rhythmic flow while retaining the song's theatrical flair.
Despite the shift from stadium rock to a groovy dance floor, the track maintains its iconic melodic transitions and storytelling spirit. It turns a tragic theatrical suite into an irresistibly funky French anthem.
