Un Poco de Amor Francés
THE STORY BEHIND THIS CROSS
Crackling with urban attitude, this cross flips the dark, razor-sharp edge of Patricio Rey y sus Redonditos de Ricota’s 1986 rock track "Una tipa rapaz" into a tight, syncopated Spanish Funk joint.
The original’s raw guitar crunch and brooding post-punk tempo get traded for a bubbling slap bassline, snappy snare hits, and interlocking rhythm guitar chops. Stepping into the spotlight, a commanding female vocalist takes over the Spanish lyrics, replacing Indio Solari’s enigmatic, gravelly rock delivery with a soulful, rhythmic flow packed with groove and swagger.
It’s an electric genre and gender flip. By infusing the classic Argentine rock story with infectious retro-grooves and dynamic female lead vocals, this transformation proves that even the most ominous rock characters can strut onto a dance floor without losing their dangerous edge.
